Rise Against Hunger recently released its 2018 Public Policy Agenda outlining the organization’s public policy priorities for this year. One of the priorities is to secure adequate resources for food security around the world. Adequate resources can come from government sources as well as other sources. Rise Against Hunger will look to the U.S. government’s international development and humanitarian assistance funding as one source of these resources. The question is sometimes asked: Why should the U.S. fund anti-poverty and development programs, including hunger focused programs, around the world?
Rise Against Hunger partner organization InterAction, an alliance of 180+ NGOs, has laid out the Top Ten Reasons to Support U.S. Leadership in Ending Extreme Poverty. These reasons range in focus from moral to economic to national security issues.
