Mission accomplished! Mississippi United Methodists celebrated reaching their one million meals goal for Stop Hunger Now during the 2015 annual conference session. Delphine Swanson, the wife of Bishop James Swanson Sr. of the Mississippi Area, initiated the charge a year ago at the 2014 session.

Mississippi Conference local churches, districts, and groups participated by hosting meal packaging events. There were approximately 70 held across the state. In the end, the Mississippi Conference packed 1,358,706 meals, nearly reaching the additional 500,000 meals challenge from Bishop Swanson.

Rev. Steve Hickle, Faith Outreach Coordinator for Stop Hunger Now, attended the 2015 session and presented Mrs. Swanson with an award that she accepted on behalf of the Mississippi Conference. She thanked the church for their faithfulness to feed those who hunger around the world and encouraged United Methodists to continue supporting Stop Hunger Now.
